Question

Answer

01

Yes

02

Not sure

It depends very much on the definition of 'other neurodevelopment disorders'.

If the purpose of the bill is to support people diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum then it should be clear about this aim.

03

Yes

Agree although involvement from appropriate charities and private organisations should be encouraged.

04

Not sure

Consistency of service provision and support across the whole of Wales should be important

05

6 months seems an appropriate allowance to write an autism strategy

06

A further 3 months to complete guidance sounds appropriate - assuming that the guidance is also being developed at the same time as the strategy.

09

Yes

We believe that the diagnosis and assessment of needs should be part of the same process to help avoid delays in providing support.

10

Yes

11

Teacher/SENCO if appropriate

13

Yes

15

It should be written in the guidance.

The bill should make a statement around the protection of a persons privacy.  The guidance can make recommendations on what information should be collected and maybe what information shouldn't be collected.

16

Yes

This could be beneficial provided that the information is subject to the same restrictions regarding privacy & dignity

17

It should happen all the time.

We believe that there should be an ongoing strategy for continuing to raise awareness, making discussions about ASD part of the general consciousness rather than just raising the issue at regular intervals.  The government should explain its strategy how it is going to raise awareness and there should be a clause to identify a timetable for regular reviews of the specific strategy for raising awareness.

I think the bill is an important move for Wales especially in relation to the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act and the general aspiration of achieving equality for the entire population of Wales.  In a perfect world we wouldn't need a specific bill to protect the needs of people diagnosed with ASD but until then it is important to raise awareness of the condition, to hopefully make the general public more understanding and accepting and to provide the best support possible for those who deal with ASD every day.
